Why Transylvania Uncharted:
Find the places that everybody goes to, and then pick something entirely different for yourself…
Having travelled to many places around the world, I have always found that sentence to be one of my most important guidelines. Especially if I want to find the experiences that makes an impact and stays in my memory. But it´s not always as easy as it sounds, and there can be a big difference between the places you can go to. Sometimes you learn the hard way that the reason for nobody visiting a place, is because it´s just plain boring. Other times you go somewhere unknown and end up in the most amazing place, with fantastic and unique experiences that you wouldn´t have imagined possible. But how do you tell the difference?
For me the difference has always been closely related to how well the travel agencies and guides have known the places you are going to. If you are lucky enough to find the local people, with dedication and a passion for sharing the wonderful and perhaps yet undiscovered parts of their “back yard”, then you’re almost guaranteed to have great experiences and memories to bring back home with you. I think that part was the biggest reason my wife and I choose Transylvania Uncharted for our trip, followed closely by an awesome concept of adventure travelling, that really appealed to us.
We chose the “Getaway – The Hidden Mountain Cabin” tour, that had a nice mix of adventurous outdoor activities and cultural/gastronomical experiences. The tour delivered what it promised in every part of that.
If I were to pick a few highlights of our travel experience with Transylvania Uncharted, the one that stands out the most is the hike to Barcaciu Cabin.
